Moll Jean Nye

has 15 years of experience in video and photo production, which allows them to bring a wealth of expertise to every frame, story & project. Their craft as a cinematographer is grounded in an invaluable apprenticeship, over 8 years of union video work, and another 5 years as a leader an in-house production team in the tech sector.

They approach their work with thoughtful lighting and technical know-how to capture, or design, productions to meet the moment or the brief with integrity and artistry. As a storyteller, they are genuinely curious about individuals- capturing their words, likeness, and work in a manner that is authentic and illuminating. As a queer behind the lens, they bring a unique perspective to the work and celebrate peoples’ identities and experiences while capturing their many shades with empathy and respect.

After years in the industry, they have returned to freelance work, as a Director and DP where their commitment, creativity, and collaboration anchor their narrative, commercial, documentary, and nonprofit work in Chicago and across the country.

With each project is a new partnership. It’s an honor to tell stories that inspire, connect, and resonate. They have had the pleasure of collaborating with notable clients such as:
